Privacy Policy

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and the role you select — Job Seeker, Employer, Ambassador, or Local Business/Advertiser. Depending on how you use the platform we may also collect your location, work history, skills, availability, vehicle details, planned route stops, and any other information you choose to add to your profile. If you sign in with Google or Facebook we receive basic profile information from that provider. If you subscribe we receive payment confirmation from Stripe — we never see your card number.

Trekkie profiles appear on a public map at offgridstaffing.com. Anyone can view this map. No account is required. For each Trekkie on the map, a visitor with no account can see an approximate location — offset from where you actually are, never your exact coordinates; a masked name, shown as "Trekkie" rather than your real name; your availability status; the date you last confirmed you were available, or that you have never confirmed it; and your blip image if you added one. They cannot see your skills, bio, desired rate, years of experience, vehicle details, résumé, contact information, planned route stops, exact location, or real name. Those are visible only to signed-in employers, and only after you both agree to connect. Employer and advertiser listings work differently. Business name, description and location are shown publicly on purpose, because the point is to be found. You control whether you appear at all. Turn off Profile Live in your dashboard and your marker is removed from the map.

Location is the heart of how OGS works, so here is exactly what happens to it. We never publish your exact position. Every Trekkie coordinate shown on the public map is deliberately offset by roughly one to three miles. The offset is consistent for your account, so your pin does not jitter around, but it is never your real spot. You decide when it updates. Your location changes when you check in or when you enable automatic updates in your dashboard. If you turn automatic updates off, your position stays where you last left it. TrekkieRoutes are opt-in. If you add planned stops — a city, an arrival date, a departure date — employers can see you are heading their way before you arrive. That is the point of the feature. If you do not add route stops, none exist and nothing is shown. If we cannot place you, we show nothing. When the city you enter cannot be matched confidently, we discard the result rather than guess. A wrong pin is worse than no pin, so you will see a prompt to fix it instead of a marker in the wrong state. Setting Profile Live to off removes your marker entirely. Clearing your location removes the coordinates. Neither deletes your account or your profile.

We use your information to operate the platform — to show your profile to employers, to match you with relevant opportunities, to send you notifications you have opted into, and to process payments. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy.

We send two kinds of email: transactional messages tied to your account and activity, and occasional platform updates. If your profile has been dormant, we may email you asking whether you are still available. One click confirms it. If you do not respond, your profile is set to unavailable and hidden from employer searches — your account and your data stay exactly as they are, and you can turn it back on any time. Every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link and supports one-click unsubscribe in your email client. Messages required to operate your account — password resets, payment receipts, security notices — cannot be unsubscribed while your account is open.

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. OGS never sees, handles or stores your card number. It goes directly to Stripe and stays there. We store your subscription status, plan, and billing history so we know whether your account is active. Ambassador payouts are also handled by Stripe. To be paid, you connect your own Stripe account and provide your details to Stripe directly. We see whether you are connected and what you are owed — never your bank details.

OGS is built on services that necessarily process some of your data. These are all of them: Airtable stores profile, job and listing data. Stripe handles payments and Ambassador payouts. Resend sends transactional email. OpenCage turns a city name into map coordinates. Carto and OpenStreetMap draw the map tiles. Daily.co powers video calls if you use them. Cloudflare Turnstile blocks bots at signup. Google and Facebook provide optional sign-in if you choose it. Google Analytics gives us anonymous, aggregate site traffic. Each has its own privacy policy. We share only what the service needs to do its job.

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We use analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used in aggregate. We do not use advertising cookies. You can decline non-essential cookies using the banner on your first visit.

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised please contact us immediately.

You can access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time through your account settings. You can export your data by contacting us. You can close your account and request deletion of your data. If you are in the European Economic Area or California you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. OGS is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do we will update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant we will notify you by email or by a notice on the platform.
